Want to do “your bit” and fight back against Global Warming? One of the most obvious and easy things to do would be to install Solar panels for your home. Time was we all thought that was a bit “freaky” or unusual and we might even have gone so far as to have a bit of a laugh about those “nerdy” types intent on “saving the world.”
Today, not so many people are laughing. The world’s weather is changing. We can now observe it with our own eyes. The recent floods in Pakistan, the landslides in China and the wildfires of Russia are all part and parcel of a change in the world’s climate. Experts are saying too, that it can only get worse. Extreme Weather is confirming our worst fears and we should all feel responsible.
Climate change ensures that the atmosphere holds more water. The atmosphere takes up water from dryer areas around the world and then it falls as intense rain. If it takes rain from areas such as deserts, the area will become even more arid.
Scientists have already lain down a “Timetable of Doom”. They believe that in the next quarter of a century, the temperature will rise by 1ºC. Tropical areas will feel the stress and with the lack of water, food production will be on the decline. When the temperature rises by 2ºC, there will be much loss in the Arctic sea, threatening species. The flora of South Africa will wither – and this could happen in the next 25 years.
The thing is, there IS still time to fight climate change. We all know what we should be doing. So let’s just get on with it!
